Breath Of Fire
Daily Breathwork To Charge Your Energetic Body
A Shaman first heals himself, and only then others. On my journey I learnt that just as we care for our physical body, we must care for our energetic body. The Breath of Fire cleanses and charges our energetic body and its centers, connecting us with the Earth, the Sun, and the Universe and their energies. It activates the third eye, which symbolizes correct thinking, the heart, which stands for unconditional love, and the belly, which ensures right action.
Connecting the Energetic Body with both Mother Earth and Father Sun
What is this good for
A great way to start your day with positive energy. Helps you to ground yourself, and circulate energy throughout your body. Even helps you to reset after a challenging night.
How to do it
Connect with Mother Earth
I prefer to sit with a straight spine. Then clasp my hands behind my back, facing the Earth. I begin by exhaling briefly through the nose, focusing my attention on the fiery core of the Earth, the flowing and bubbling lava. I imagine being near it or directly inside this fiery core. I focus only on the exhales, and the body takes care of the inhales on its own. I built up my breathing speed over time but started slower. While breathing, only my diaphragm moves, not the shoulders or the entire body.
Sending the Energy up the Spine
When I feel sufficiently connected to the fiery core of the Earth, charged and aligned, I take a deep breath (still imagining the fiery energy I am inhaling), exhale, and take a few more breaths (3-4). With the breath held, I imagine filling my chakras with the fire from the Earth's core, from the first to the seventh.
Activate Energetic Centres
Then, with the next inhale, I place my hands first on the second chakra, with the intention to activate the ability to act, with the next inhale, I place them on the fourth chakra to activate the heart and love, and with another inhale, we place them on the sixth chakra to activate the third eye.
Connect with Father Sun
For the second part I move my attention on the Universe (mentally greeting Father Sun, Grandmother Moon, Sister Stars) and, with my hands clasped upwards, I begin the breath of fire with my attention directed towards the Sun. I fill my body with the energy of the Sun and cleanse it. When I feel it is sufficiently filled (I have read recommendations for about 140 exhales, but I don't want to count when doing the breath of fire), I again take a deep breath, exhale, inhale again for 3-4 breaths, and hold the breath. I again fill all my chakras with the light of the Sun this time downwards from the seventh to the first.
Repeat
Then, I move my hands in an arc around the body behind my back so that they are facing the Earth, and I repeat the entire process. It is ideal to do three rounds of breathing every morning, but of course, you can adjust it according to your time and what works for you. Do this breathing exercise at least every day for the next two months, and if it suits you, continue beyond that.
